36 built-in tools in one app. A material register with sheet size, thickness, price and a CUT-SAFE flag that stays visible wherever the material appears and cannot be overridden by a settings entry, plus a hazards view listing everything you marked unsafe or unknown; a settings register of power, speed and passes per material and operation, presented as values to TEST ON SCRAP and never as correct; a parts register with geometry; a KERF view showing what the kerf does to a finished dimension and the offset it implies IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, since a slot is cut wide and a mating tab must be offset the other way and getting the sign wrong is the classic laser error; a NESTING view testing both orientations and naming the winner — a 145 x 95 mm part fits 16 to a 600 x 400 mm sheet as drawn but only 12 rotated, so an app that always rotates loses a quarter of the sheet — with the nest drawn to scale, sheets for a quantity, offcut share and yield against the theoretical maximum; cut time from path length and feed rate per pass, engrave time from area and a raster rate you set, and a job time totalling cutting and engraving with fixed load and unload, so a second pass doubles the cutting but not the handling; machine cost at your hourly rate, material cost, cost per part with setup amortised, a breakdown, quantity breaks, a printable quote, planned-against-actual runs and a scrap log; plus CSV exports, a JSON backup and a Method page.

Etchworks is a planning, costing and record-keeping tool for craft and workshop work. Every figure it reports is computed by a stated formula from the measurements, prices and rates YOU enter, and every figure carries its UNIT. Grams and millilitres are never treated as interchangeable: wherever a mass becomes a volume or the reverse, the DENSITY used is printed beside the result and is yours to change. Every percentage names the quantity it is a percentage of at the point of use, because a rate on the wax is not a rate on the finished candle, a superfat is a reduction of the lye rather than an addition of oil, and a depth of shade is against the dry fibre rather than the bath. Saponification values, densities, shrinkage rates, cone references, thread factors, setts, feed rates, gauges and waste allowances are REFERENCE FIGURES that vary by supplier, batch and machine: each one is editable data, is shown beside the result it produced, and is a starting point to verify against your own supplier rather than a fact. Where a craft involves a caustic, a solvent, a kiln, a laser, a dye powder or a heat source, the hazard is stated where the calculation appears — this is a calculator and a record, not a safety authority, and it is no substitute for the manufacturer's and supplier's own safety data. It runs entirely in your browser with no network access of any kind and reports only what you recorded. It does not promise an outcome: not a successful firing, not a cured casting, not a safe or skin-safe batch, not a food-safe glaze, not a saleable piece.
