Cite — Reference Manager & Citation Builder — a premium, 100% offline digital tool by Aceplore. Runs entirely in your browser: no accounts, no subscriptions, your data never leaves your device.
A private, offline reference manager where the citation styles are not hard-coded — every style is a set of about fifty rules you can read and edit, so when your department wants the edition in a different place you change the rule instead of retyping the bibliography — 33 tools in one, and nothing is ever looked up online.
33 built-in tools in one app. A reference library with a detail page per entry, collections, projects that each carry their own style, a reading queue and cross-entity search; a bibliography built block by block from the style's own rules, an in-text view where the parenthetical and narrative forms are genuinely different from the bibliography entry, a sorting view that shows the key each reference sorted on, and an et al. view that walks one reference through every author count around your threshold so you can see exactly where the truncation starts; six built-in styles — APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago 17 author-date, Harvard Cite Them Right, Vancouver ICMJE and IEEE — each one a readable, editable, duplicable rule set rather than a black box, plus an editable required-field table per reference type; reading notes, quotations with page numbers and copy-with-citation, and tags; author, year and journal indexes with charts; a duplicate finder that shows the normalisation it used, a missing-fields view driven by your own required fields, and a ten-check citation hygiene report with every offender linked; and an offline pattern-only DOI parser, a real BibTeX and RIS importer that tells you which fields it could not place, plus BibTeX, RIS, CSV and plain-text export.
Bibliography & Format. Each entry is assembled block by block from the style’s own rules, and the app will show you which rule produced which part. Change a rule and every entry re-renders.
Citation hygiene. A gauge plus ten computed checks. Nothing is reported without a link to the reference that caused it.
DOI parser. Reads the shape of what you paste and lists every pattern it tried. It contacts nothing — the app has no network code at all.

Cite is a planning, record-keeping and calculation tool for students, researchers and teaching staff. Every figure and every formatted output it produces is derived by a standard published method from what YOU enter, and the rules behind it are editable because academic conventions are set locally rather than universally. Your institution's regulations, your funder's terms and your supervisor's, journal's or examiner's requirements always take precedence over anything shown here — check them, and confirm anything that carries a consequence before you rely on it. Nothing here is a guarantee of a grade, an award, an approval or a result, and none of it is academic, financial or legal advice. You are solely responsible for your own academic and research decisions.
Each product ships with a clear license tier. Personal covers individual, non-commercial use; Commercial covers client and commercial work; Extended adds resale and SaaS rights. Pick your tier on this page.
