Kilnwright — Glaze, Shrinkage & Firing Schedules — a premium, 100% offline digital tool by Aceplore. Runs entirely in your browser: no accounts, no subscriptions, your data never leaves your device.

A private, offline bench book for ceramics — shrinkage that compounds rather than adds, the inverse a potter actually needs, glaze batches from parts per hundred, and what a firing costs to run. 34 tools in one, and it never calls a glaze food-safe.

34 built-in tools in one app. A clay-body register with dry, fired and absorption figures; a shrinkage view showing that dry and fired shrinkage COMPOUND rather than add — 6% then 8% is 13.52% and not 14% — with the naive sum kept visible as the contrast; a size-for-finish view computing the WET size a finished dimension demands, which is the figure a potter actually needs and is not the finished size less the percentage; the inverse for what a wet piece will finish at, and a measured view giving a test bar's shrinkage against BOTH the wet and the fired size, since those are different denominators; a glaze register batched from parts per hundred with the total the parts ACTUALLY sum to stated rather than assumed, a batch-check, a specific-gravity view giving the water a target implies and a water-adjust view; a materials register keeping your hazard notes visible; firing schedules built from segments with rates and holds, drawn as a ramp and TOTALLED segment by segment rather than estimated; a cone view treating cone as HEATWORK tied to a ramp rate and editable, never as the temperature at which a cone falls, and a witness view of what actually happened against what the schedule intended; kiln dimensions, usable volume, shelf area and loading; energy in kilowatt-hours from the rating you recorded with the average-load figure an editable assumption, firing cost and cost per piece; plus CSV exports, a JSON backup and a Method page.

Compounds. 6% then 8% is 13.52%, and the naive 14% is shown as the contrast.

Time. Segment by segment, with holds, not estimated.

Kilnwright is a planning, costing and record-keeping tool for craft and workshop work. Every figure it reports is computed by a stated formula from the measurements, prices and rates YOU enter, and every figure carries its UNIT. Grams and millilitres are never treated as interchangeable: wherever a mass becomes a volume or the reverse, the DENSITY used is printed beside the result and is yours to change. Every percentage names the quantity it is a percentage of at the point of use, because a rate on the wax is not a rate on the finished candle, a superfat is a reduction of the lye rather than an addition of oil, and a depth of shade is against the dry fibre rather than the bath. Saponification values, densities, shrinkage rates, cone references, thread factors, setts, feed rates, gauges and waste allowances are REFERENCE FIGURES that vary by supplier, batch and machine: each one is editable data, is shown beside the result it produced, and is a starting point to verify against your own supplier rather than a fact. Where a craft involves a caustic, a solvent, a kiln, a laser, a dye powder or a heat source, the hazard is stated where the calculation appears — this is a calculator and a record, not a safety authority, and it is no substitute for the manufacturer's and supplier's own safety data. It runs entirely in your browser with no network access of any kind and reports only what you recorded. It does not promise an outcome: not a successful firing, not a cured casting, not a safe or skin-safe batch, not a food-safe glaze, not a saleable piece.

Each product ships with a clear license tier. Personal covers individual, non-commercial use; Commercial covers client and commercial work; Extended adds resale and SaaS rights. Pick your tier on this page.
