Write it. Publish it. Earn from it.

QuillForge is a complete, private, 100% offline operating system for a self-publishing business — royalties, read-through, advertising, print margins, production costs and subsidiary rights. 15 integrated modules and 39 tools in a single HTML file, plus a live 11-sheet Excel workbook. Nothing installs. No account. No royalty figure ever leaves your computer.

The number your retailer dashboard never shows you

Every dashboard reports the same three things: units, rank, and a royalty total. None of them tells you what a reader is worth across a series — which is the only number an advertising decision can honestly be made on.

The worked example inside publishes nine titles. Book one of the finished five-book crime series is a 99c entry point, and the dashboard reports its royalty as $0.35 a sale. Counting print, audio and the Kindle Unlimited borrows that never appear as sales, the same book returns $1.18 a reader. And because 58% of those readers go on to book two, 81% of those to book three, and 37.6% reach the end, a book-one reader is worth $6.84 across the series.

Two of that author's campaigns run at 480% and 413% ACOS against book one — figures any author would switch off tomorrow. Against what a reader is actually worth they run at 83% and 71%, and they are making money. Same campaigns, same month, two verdicts.

Twenty-one screens

The catalogue — Book Register, where a borrow is counted as a reader by dividing page reads by the book's own KENP length · Series Read-Through (the flagship), compounding each step into a share of the original book-one readers · Reader Value, per series and blended across the catalogue · Royalty Ledger by title, format and channel.

Selling — Platforms & Exclusivity, showing what Kindle Unlimited actually pays against going wide · Formats & Print Costs, where a 537-page paperback at $14.99 leaves $1.55 and a 354-page one leaves $3.75 · Pricing & Promotions, valuing a promotion at the royalty on the copy actually taken plus everything after it · Advertising, every campaign judged twice.

Getting found — Rank & Visibility with “off its best” for comparing titles of different ages · Reviews per hundred readers, measured lifetime against lifetime · Keywords, counting every empty slot across every title rather than only the ones you have touched · Launch Tracker.

The business — Production Costs line by line · Book Payback, which titles have repaid and how long each took · Subsidiary Rights, pricing idle audio from what your own audiobooks returned per title and refusing to invent a figure for anything else · Reader List, a subscriber against a bought reader.

Eight calculators

Reader value · Allowable ad cost · Print margin · Kindle Unlimited, on whether a borrow beats a sale at your page count · Book payback · Price change · Audiobook narration payback · Launch to a list.

Twelve copy-ready pieces

The blurb skeleton · the series page description · the also-boughts and A+ pitch · the end-of-book page that sells the next title · the reader-magnet page · the review ask · the welcome email · the new-release announcement · the between-books email · the BookBub featured deal note · the narrator letter · the rights enquiry letter.

Genuinely private. It makes no network requests of any kind. Your royalties, costs, advertising spend and rights positions stay in your own browser and are never transmitted anywhere.

Honest by design. Every figure is arithmetic on twelve months you supply, with its assumption printed beside it. Nothing is projected forward and no industry average is used anywhere. Where a number could only be guessed at — what a translation right is worth, what filling a keyword slot returns — the app lists the item with no figure against it rather than inventing one.

QuillForge performs arithmetic on figures you supply. It is not legal, tax, contractual or financial advice. Royalty bands, delivery fees, print rates and page-read rates are set by retailers, change without notice, and are whatever you type in.

Personal covers individual, non-commercial use. Commercial covers client and commercial work. Extended adds resale and SaaS rights. Pick your tier above.
