Signage — Large-Format Sizing & Legibility — a premium, 100% offline digital tool by Aceplore. Runs entirely in your browser: no accounts, no subscriptions, your data never leaves your device.

A private, offline calculator for things read from a distance — the cap height a viewing distance demands, whether the copy actually fits the panel, and how much material the sign takes off the roll — 32 tools in one, and the furthest reader always governs.

32 built-in tools in one app. A sign list with type, size, unit and viewing distance, each drawn to scale with its text blocks in place; a standards list holding the legibility ratios you work to, NAMED and editable because they are conventions rather than laws; a cap-height view giving the height a viewing distance demands at your ratio, a distance view running the same arithmetic backwards, and a legibility check setting every text block against its standard with the shortfall in millimetres; text blocks with their role, cap height, tracking and line count, a line-length view giving characters per line at a cap height and the width they need, a stack view fitting lines into the panel height with leading, and a FIT view stating the overflow in millimetres rather than quietly shrinking the copy; a tracking view showing what letter spacing adds to the width, and a contrast note that reminds you weight and contrast change legibility while making no claim to have measured them; a viewing set holding every distance a sign is read from and a WORST-CASE view using the maximum, because the furthest reader governs and an average reader does not exist; substrates with roll width and price, finished area in square metres, a material view giving the strips a roll width requires and the offcut it leaves, nesting, waste as area and as money, and a double-sided view; cost across material, print, finishing and install, a printable quote and a comparison of two signs; plus CSV exports, a JSON backup and a Method page holding every formula.

Cap height. 10,000 mm ÷ 250 = 40 mm. At 1:200 it is 50 mm. The inverse agrees — a 40 mm cap at 1:250 serves 10,000 mm — and Signage states that this is the RATIO speaking, not a promise that any particular person can read it.

Fit. 3 lines at 40 mm cap and 1.4 leading is 3 × 56 = 168 mm against a 150 mm band — 18 mm over. Stated, not resolved by silently shrinking the type, which is how a sign ends up illegible after being checked.

Roll & offcut. A 2,400 × 1,200 mm banner is 2.88 m². From a 1,370 mm roll it consumes 1.370 × 2.400 = 3.288 m² of roll, leaving 0.408 m² of offcut — 12.408759% waste, which at 18.50 per m² is 7.548 you paid for and cannot use.

Signage is a specification, costing and record-keeping tool for design and production work. Every figure it reports is computed by a stated formula from the sizes, prices, counts and rates YOU enter, and every figure carries its UNIT, because px, pt, mm, bytes, milliseconds and dpi are different quantities and confusing them is the classic failure in this field. Where a geometry has to close — a grid against its container, a proration, a coverage matrix — it is reconciled rather than rounded, and a disagreement is reported instead of absorbed. Where a rule comes from a published standard or an industry convention, the standard is named and its parameters are yours to change; where a figure rests on something you assumed rather than measured, it is labelled an assumption at the point of use. Nothing here is a guarantee of a passed press check, a performance score, an approved brand or an available name, and none of it is legal advice — trademark, licensing and accessibility obligations differ by country and by contract, and availability and registration must be confirmed with the registries and rights holders themselves. You are solely responsible for what you send to press, ship to a browser or put your name to.

Each product ships with a clear license tier. Personal covers individual, non-commercial use; Commercial covers client and commercial work; Extended adds resale and SaaS rights. Pick your tier on this page.
