33 built-in tools in one app. A library of the fonts, images, icons and audio you licensed, and a licence register holding the type, the purchase date, the term, the cost, the seats, the pageview and install allowances, the territory and whether it is perpetual; a permissions matrix of licence type against channel — print, web, app, social, broadcast, merchandise, logo — editable, because your contract governs rather than any default; a use log recording where each asset was actually used, and the coverage engine that sets every use against every licence held for that asset and returns exactly one of four verdicts — COVERED, NOT COVERED, OVER ALLOWANCE or EXPIRED — each NAMING the licence that produced it; an uncovered list, which is the view this app exists for, and a channel check for a use you are only planning; seat and pageview and install meters whose remaining count FLOORS at zero with the overage stated separately, because a negative remaining reads as headroom; territory checks, exclusivity, an expiry view counting an inclusive twelve-month term to the day before the anniversary, and a perpetual list that carries NO end date at all rather than a far-future one; renewals with their cost and an annual renewal total, spend by asset and by kind, a risk view ranking uncovered, over-allowance, expired and out-of-territory uses by exposure, and an audit log of findings and whether they were resolved; plus CSV exports, a JSON backup and a Method page stating exactly how a verdict is reached.

Coverage. COVERED, NOT COVERED, OVER ALLOWANCE or EXPIRED. Every verdict states which licence produced it and why, so a disagreement is a conversation about a clause rather than about the app.

Seats. 5 seats against 7 recorded is 0 remaining and 2 over. Both figures are shown, because the first tells you there is no room and the second tells you how much you need to buy.

Expiry. A twelve-month term from 2025-06-01 ends 2026-05-31, and Sourcelight counts it both ways to prove it. A PERPETUAL licence stores no end date at all — it is never given a far-future one to keep a column tidy.

Sourcelight is a specification, costing and record-keeping tool for design and production work. Every figure it reports is computed by a stated formula from the sizes, prices, counts and rates YOU enter, and every figure carries its UNIT, because px, pt, mm, bytes, milliseconds and dpi are different quantities and confusing them is the classic failure in this field. Where a geometry has to close — a grid against its container, a proration, a coverage matrix — it is reconciled rather than rounded, and a disagreement is reported instead of absorbed. Where a rule comes from a published standard or an industry convention, the standard is named and its parameters are yours to change; where a figure rests on something you assumed rather than measured, it is labelled an assumption at the point of use. Nothing here is a guarantee of a passed press check, a performance score, an approved brand or an available name, and none of it is legal advice — trademark, licensing and accessibility obligations differ by country and by contract, and availability and registration must be confirmed with the registries and rights holders themselves.
